Larry Mitchell Crowell

Sep 4, 2026

Larry Mitchell Crowell, 72, of Anacortes, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at Rosario Assisted Living in Anacortes, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Larry was born on September 10, 1953, in Anacortes, Washington, to Elsworth and Ellen Kathleen (Mitchell) Crowell. He lost his mother when he was just eleven years old, a loss that stayed with him throughout his life. In those early years, basketball became a source of purpose and joy, and he often spoke fondly of his coach, Roger, who gave him something to live for and helped set him on a better path.

After graduating high school, Larry worked at the local mill before beginning a long career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, a job he held for many years.

In 1982, Larry welcomed his son, Ryan, whom he would later describe as the best part of his life.

Later in life, Larry found a deep and lasting faith that changed him. Through years of prayer and reflection, he worked to make peace with his past, and he came to treasure the chance to reconcile with his own father in his father's final years. Larry devoted much of his later life to his faith and to being present for others, often saying he would be there for anyone who needed someone to talk to.

Larry is survived by his son, Ryan (Monica) Crowell; grandchildren: Isaiah Crowell and Dylan Crowell; siblings: Mike Crowell, Rosemary Hyatt, Kathy (Mike Morgenthaler); and many nieces and nephews.

A private Graveside Service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Anacortes on Friday, September 4th, 2026, at 11 am, with a reception to follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Evans Funeral Chapel.
