Women’s Ministries
God’s Word tells us, “…Speaking the truth in love we will in all things grow up unto him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and build itself up in love as each does its work.” –Ephesians 4:15-16
WELCOME
Women’s ministries is about growing up in Christ, reaching out to others, loving and serving. We're about "women helping women," reaching out to one another, encouraging one another to be the best we can be -- the best women, the best wives and mothers, the best aunts, sisters, grandmothers or whatever the day demands of us. That's what we want to become. Of course, we don't start out that way, but Women's Ministries is a safe place to get acquainted, bond with other women, find a friend or a mentor, and grow together in Christ.
There are many ways women can become involved in Women’s Ministries activities. In addition to overseeing small-group women's studies, Women’s Ministries plays an intregal role in the daily life of the church, working alongside other ministries in support of their programs and events. For example, each year Women's Ministries is responsible for coordinating and staffing Parents Night Out events at the church, decorating the church for the Christmas season, and hosting special events and/or seminars .
BIBLE STUDIES & SMALL GROUPS
Women’s Ministries is active most of the year, providing a variety of Bible studies (day and evening classes) tailored to the needs and concerns of women. During the 2010 calendar year, look for studies certain to encourage your spiritual growth. For more information relative to current and upcoming studies, contact Mary Bajema at 299-0462 or Simone Caracciolo at 293-8927. If this is an area you’d like to explore, stretch and grow in; please join us on Tuesdays. Newcomers are always welcome! For more information contact Simone at 293-5300.

MOMS COFFEE BREAK.
"To share life and Jesus in our everyday roles as wives and moms," is the motto of Moms Coffee Break (MCB). MCB meets September through May each Wednesday morning from 9:30–11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Anacortes First Baptist Church. The MCB group reads and discusses Christian-oriented books on mothering and spiritual growth while giving support to each other as they face the challenge of being wives and mothers. Members of the group have shared what a difference the group has made in their lives and marriages as they learn to apply the principles being taught.
Nursery care is offered and a structured children’s program is provided to the children the moms bring to the MCB meeting.
SERENITY SEEKERS.
Serenity Seekers is a biblically based cancer and life-threatening disease women's support group. The group's mission statement reads: "As we journey together using biblical principles, God’s word and prayer, we will seek to provide faith-based support to encourage each other, give comfort, support, and hope to women and women caregivers who have been touched by cancer or life-changing illnesses. We will share information, learn and grow spiritually as we walk beside each other finding light, and mental, emotional and spiritual strength." Serenity Seekers meets the third Thursday of each month and is open to any woman in the community. For more information, please contact Fran Bohall at the church office, 293-5300.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Women's Ministries has always stressed the importance of reaching out into our community. Each year we organize at least one special event that serves as an outreach tool. In 2009 FBC hosted a Women’s event with the purpose of assisting Anacortes' new family shelter. Nine of our area churches were involved, and because of our community’s generous donations, seven kitchens were fully equipped and two were partially outfitted. In addition, over $1,100 was raised! It was truly an example of the body of Christ at work as so many area churches came together. The more than 100 women who attended the event were blessed not only by their participation in such a worthy cause, but also by what keynote speaker Carolyn Culbertson and others shared about what it means to make a home. Following the day’s activities, many women volunteered time to help prepare the Center for occupancy and offered to serve on the Center’s board. Other ministry outreach projects for the year included coordinating the decoration of the church during the Christmas season and providing support at the Live Nativity.
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together,
as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another...." Hebrews 10:23-25
