A Welcome Message from Pastor Eric:

Welcome to Anacortes First Baptist Church. We offer a wonderful place for worship for people of all ages, singles and families, for those new to our area and for Anacortes "old timers."

Our mission is simple.  We exist to make mature followers of Jesus Christ.  We are passionate about wanting people to be in relationship with Jesus and follow him, whether they live in Anacortes or in another part of the world.

Our plan for doing that is also simple.  We are:

Connecting people to Jesus with our Worship.
Growing people to be like Jesus in our Small Group Bible Studies.
Serving people in the name of Jesus through our Small Groups.
Equipping people to lead like Jesus through our Discipleship Process.

At FBC we strive to worship God authentically with worship that is Christ-centered and loving and in ways that will engage people of different ages.  We welcome you to join us!  Take some time to take it in.  Connect.  We’re glad you’re here.

UPCOMING SERMONS

THEME FOR JULY 2010:  "CONNECT"
We live in a time when people are interested in connecting with God, yet there are those who make that increasingly complicated. Jesus’ invitation to follow him seeks to connect people to God and not confuse them. In Connect, we will look at three simple words that Jesus used to describe our relationship with him.

July 11: Follow – Matthew 9:9-13
There is a misconception that people who are following Christ have figured out all the rules and know how
to live by them. The reality is that the center of the Christian life is a relationship with
Jesus Christ that begins with Jesus’ invitation to follow me.

July 18: Believe – John 3:1-21
We have the misconception that to follow Jesus, we must have all our beliefs figured out. The truth is that there are only just two beliefs that we need to begin to answer so that we can follow Jesus.
Those two beliefs are who is Jesus and what did he come to do?

July 25: Obey – Matthew 7:24 -28
We can make the mistake of thinking that obedience is the first step in our in following Christ. Since our first step in following Christ is our relationship with him and as we begin to believe that Jesus loves us and has the best
for us then we discover the reason to obey Christ.

Front of Anacortes First Baptist ChurchCome Connect, Grow, Serve and Lead With Us!

Anacortes First Baptist Church offers a variety of opportunities to worship and grow in your relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ!  Our aim is to see that everyone entering the doors of this church has the opportunity to "Connect" with Jesus Christ through our worship services, “Grow” to be like Jesus Christ through small group studies, "Serve” others in the name of Jesus Christ in our world through our small group community projects, and eventually learn to "Lead" others to be like Jesus Christ in our church and in our community.

Two Sunday worship services are offered to meet the needs of our community:  a traditional service, followed by a contemporary service.  In between our services, we offer a fellowship and hospitality time, and coffee and light snacks are provided.  Childcare is provided during both services.  In addition to Sunday School classes, numerous groups meet on a regular basis for in-depth Bible studies and Christian fellowship.  With an emphasis on reaching out and serving beyond our doors, our entire church and our small groups are encouraged to participate in community service and neighborhood projects.  Click here for more information on getting plugged into a small group.

Anacortes First Baptist Church’s mission is found in Matthew 28-19-20 wherein we are commanded to invite people to follow Jesus:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Who We Are & What We Believe

Our Purpose and Belief
Our purpose is to glorify God in all we do as His hands and feet in our community, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and His salvation, and through the power of His Holy Spirit to be like Jesus Christ.

What We Believe
We affirm that God through Jesus Christ calls us to be a redeemed people who claim a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  We subscribe to the universal Apostolic creed which says:

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of the heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried.  He descended into Hades, the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and He now sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Biblical Standards for Christian Living
At Anacortes First Baptist Church it is our desire that all members grow into mature believers so that they will be effective servants in the Kingdom of Christ. The following areas of personal involvement are encouraged for all members:

♦ Baptism:  Identification with His death, burial and resurrection, and an indication of membership in the church. Fellowship

♦ Support:  We encourage you to give financially on a regular percentage basis as an act of worship and thanksgiving.  Not equal giving but equal sacrifice.

♦ Worship:  Regular attendance and participation in Sunday worship services is the basis for all other church involvements.  Worship before serving.

♦ Biblical Literacy:  We strongly advocate that you study the Word individually and in groups for the purpose of knowing the story of God's salvation history and His purpose for the Church.

♦ Fellowship:  We desire for you to get involved in this faith community and interact with other congregational members in social, family and church settings.

♦ Service:  We will seek to help you discover, develop, and utilize your spiritual gifts and abilities for the sake of personal growth and the ministry of this church.

♦ Holiness:  We request that you seek to live a moral lifestyle according to the principles taught and modeled by Jesus Christ, which exhibit the holy nature of God.

We believe that when we seek to practice the same kind of love, grace and mercy that was modeled by Jesus Christ, we will be empowered to grow in these areas.

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" (Matthew 22:36 NIV). Jesus replied, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40 NIV).
